We started on May 1
Ferries and ships sail again at the Vistula river and you can hear characteristic clatter of horses pulling stagecoaches in the Old Town. At the beginning of May ZTM started the tourist lines for the second time. This year season will last till September 12.
The campaign promoting the lines is now in progress. On April, 23 the website “subpage” of the Warsaw Tourist Lines has appeared on the main ZTM website. You can find timetables and rules as well as information (in four foreign languages) about all attractions, tariff and principles of selling tickets. You can find leaflets in the Tourist Information Centers whereas cards and posters are available in offices and in several Warsaw hotels and hostels.
Information about lines has also appeared in vehicles (LCD displays and handles with advertisements in buses) as well as on the websites of the district councils. From Monday (April 26) regional TV channels started to broadcast spots encouraging to use this year ZTM tourist offer.
All tourists who are going to use the Warsaw Tourist Lines may expect a lot of attractions this year.
The water tram “Wars”, operated by Żegluga Stołeczna, sails from Podzamcze to “Gruba Kaśka”. The ship leaves the Podzamcze harbor next to “River Cafe”. There will be five runs a day and each cruise will last about 1 hour 50 minutes.
Last year alike, the ship will be a place of many cultural events – it will be possible to listen to good music on board or get some information about the history and the architecture of the capital city from the special audio-guide prepared by ZTM. Tickets are available directly on a ship on the day of a cruise or in advance booking. You can buy tickets in advance in the office of Żegluga Stołeczna at ul. Świętokrzyska 36, room 1, from Monday to Friday, between 12-15 p.m.
There are also three free ferry crossings: from the surroundings of Łomianki (ferry “Turkawka” goes to Nowodwory), of Podzamcze (ferry “Pliszka” reaches the beach near ZOO) and of Cypel Czerniakowski (ferry “Słonka” sails to Saska Kępa) within the lines. Bicycle racks were placed on each ferry of Przedsiębiorstwo Usług Wodnych from Legionowo.
On weekdays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays the ferries from Podzamcze and Cypel Czerniakowski will sail every 20 minutes and the ferry from Łomianki every 30 minutes on weekdays and every 15 minutes on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
In the Old Town passengers can go for a ride by two horse stagecoaches – double-decker and single-decker one. They will go from the Castle Square and go through the New Town Market Place, ul. Senatorska and will go back to the Castle Square (pl. Zamkowy – Podwale – Freta – Rynek Nowego Miasta – Freta – Świętojerska – pl. Krasińskich – Miodowa – Senatorska – Wierzbowa – Moliera – Sentaroska – pl. Zamkowy) with six stops: the Old Town (pl. Zamkowy), Barbakan, the New Town Market Place, pl. Krasińskich, ul. Kapitulna, pl. Piłsudskiego.
The ride time is about 50 minutes. Stagecoaches go from Tuesday to Friday (five rides a day) and on Saturdays and Sundays (six rides a day). The double-decker stagecoach takes 16 passengers and the single-decker one – 12 of them.
Tickets are available directly by the carrier at the stop by the Castle Square.
Last year alike you can also go on an unforgettable 8-hour long cruise to Serock. The ship “Zefir” leaves the Podzamcze harbor at 9.00 a.m., sales through the sluices of Kanał Żerański and arrives to Serock at high noon. The history of Serock dates back to the Middle Ages. Passengers have about 1.5 hour for sightseeing and taking some rest. About 6.00 p.m. “Zefir” sales back to the capital city.
Cruises from Warsaw to Serock are operated by Przedsiębiorstwo Usług Wodnych from Legionowo. “Zefir” takes 110 passengers on board. There are a barbecue and a buffet with drinks onboard.
There is one cruise a day each Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are available in advance booking system in the ZTM Passenger Service Center at the Centrum underground station (from Monday to Thursday, between 7.00 a.m. and 8.00 p.m. and on Friday between 7.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m.) as well as by the ship owner on the day of a cruise.
In May and September, the water tram and stagecoaches will be available only at weekends.
