Chopin’s “T”ram
The T tram line entered the rails on June 3. This year the untypical “music” inauguration was planned. During subsequent summer weekends, the Chopin’s Tram will run within the ZTM tourist line. A vintage car – type 838 – is a mobile information center about the great composer and his Warsaw.
Chopin spent the first half of his life in Warsaw but for many compatriots, he is still more associated with Żelazowa Wola or Paris. Those who will go for a ride by a tram of the line T will get to know not only places in the city connected with the composer’s youth, but they will also have the possibility of listening to the guide’s story, enjoying music and watching an art exhibition.
The Chopin’s tram is a gallery of posters from the competition “Fryderyk! Come back to Warsaw!” – they are graphic images showing the composer and his relations to Warsaw. The exhibition on windowpanes will be visible not only inside but also from the outside. In the tram passengers will listen to the Chopin’s music performed by the young pianist Krzysztof Trzaskowski played by use of the original car loudspeakers. A guide will be another attraction. Between the music pieces, he will tell about the history of Warsaw and the composer’s life.
You can get on the tram at any point of the route. Passengers will get information materials about Chopin’s places and attractions. You can punch a commemorative ticket in form of a bookmark in a vintage validating machine or by a conductor from Klub Miłośników Komunikacji Miejskiej (club of public transport enthusiasts). There is a map of places connected with the composer’s life printed on a ticket.
The Chopin’s tram is unique not only because of the vintage car. There are special information plates on the tram and a graphic creation related to the composer at sides. Timetables of the Chopin’s line T appeared at stops of public transport the tram stops at.
The Chopin’s tram runs on Saturdays and Sundays.
