Buses will run in a different way
The construction of the metro in Praga district near pl. Wileński enters the next phase. Hence, it is necessary to close a part of the main street of Praga which is al. Solidarności. The public transport buses will not be able to run there since 22nd July. The right-bank Warsaw residents and commuters to the capital should prepare for big changes– some lines will run detour and routes of others will be shortened. Travel to Marki, Radzymin or Targówek will entail additional change.
- Passengers who travel by public transport buses, for the time of complete closure of the section of al. Solidarności within the area of pl. Wileński, may expect a significant change in the organisation of public transport. Zarząd Transportu Miejskiego, to avoid paralysis of public transport at detours (due to the limited capacity of the Praga intersections– ul. Jagiellońska and ul. Ratuszowa, al. Solidarności and ul. Jagiellońska), opted for fairly radical solutions – buses that run at ul. Radzymińska (i.a. lines 120, 160, 169, 512, 718, 738, 805) will start and end their courses at the east side of the construction site and buses that run through Śląsko-Dąbrowski bridge – at the west side (line 190). To travel further, it will be necessary to change between those lines passing through the pedestrian crossing located within the area of the metro construction. Despite the change, such way of travelling will be the shortest, as it will not require to use longer detour of the construction site.
ZTM will maintain direct connection from Targówek and ul. Radzymińska to pl. Bankowy (line Z60). However, a travel on long detour route that will bypass the construction area, is expected to last much longer than a travel on the shorter route – with a change at the construction of the metro.
As for the transportation of passengers from the area of pl. Wileński, the most important will be tram transport. 23 and 26 tram lines will run with increased frequency at their own routes.
Additionally, to limit the road difficulties some lines (i.e. 302, 527) will run detour bypassing the area of Dworzec Wileński. Therefore i.e. the residents of the green Białołęka will again have to change to get to metro at the Dworzec Gdański station.
