Buses return to Marszałkowska street, changes in Tarchomin
On the 10th of September the bus traffic will return to Marszałkowska street, between the Dmowskiego roundabout and Królewska street. Most buses will return on their routes. On the same day, further changes will be introduced in bus transport in the west side of Białołęka
Day-time buses will return to the excluded part of Marszałkowska street on Monday morning the 10th of September. Night buses will return on Marszałkowska street on Sunday-Monday night. On the 10th of September, with two exceptions, the public transport will be restored on Marszałkowska street as it functioned before the suspension of the traffic.
Line 107 will remain on its current route (through Kredytowa, Jasna, Zgoda and Krucza street). The current route has been adopted as the traffic jam disturbs the proper transport on the Marszałkowska and Aleje Jerozolimskie junction. What is more, line 127 will remain on its shortened route (to Plac Trzech Krzyży) while the line 227 route will be maintained. Before the routes were split, the route of line 127 was very long so that traffic jam disturbed road traffic. The division improved the regularity of timetable. It was also due to passengers’ requests, especially the residents of Włochy.
On the 10th of September further changes will also be introduced in the west side of Białołęka. The frequency of bus lines will be increased. Express line E4 will double its frequency in timetable. The frequency will rise from 10 to 5 minutes. Also, line 511 will run more frequently. In the morning peak hours, its frequency will rise from 6-7 minutes to 5 minutes. Outside the peak hours and on holidays, the frequency will rise from 20 to 15 minutes. Buses of line 509 will also run more often. In the morning peak hours, its frequency will rise from 6-7 to 5 minutes. It will be possible due to the cancellation of line 508 the vehicles of which will go as line 509. Furthermore, on Modlińska street ‘request stops’ will be added for line 511: Ekspresowa and Płochocińska.
The decision concerning the changes in this part of Warsaw was made after having analyzed the results of the research concerning passengers’ use of bus transport after the opening of Marii Skłodowskiej Curie bridge and after having analyzed the poll carried out among the passengers of lines 508 and 511. It occurred that currently the number of passengers of line 508 has lessened twice as compared to the time before the bridge was opened. In the morning peak hours, the number of passengers lessened from 1700 to 800 people. A considerable number of passengers chose express lines and line 101 that ensures connection with Młociny Station and line 511. Bearing in mind the current financial situation, the transport has to be structured as rationally as possible. There is evidently no need for maintaining the line the use of which has dropped so much while we can easily replace it by more useful connections.
It is worth mentioning that during the poll commissioned by ZTM, it appeared that the majority of passengers of line 511 did not agree with directing the line through the Marii Skłodowskiej-Curie bridge to Młociny metro station. 66% of passengers were against such a solution. They assumed that it would be better to keep the line going through Grota-Roweckiego bridge to Marymont metro station. That is why line 511 will become the basic line providing the connection between the metro and the whole Modlińska street.
