Let’s make fleet younger!
This year the MZA fleet was expanded by 128 new vehicles and, during this self-government term, by 502 vehicles. That means that every second bus with the MZA logo is a new vehicle.
For several days now, new articulated buses of the MAN and Solaris Urbino 18 brands have been running within the most popular lines – e.g. 190, 500, 520. The MAN buses were equipped with electronic displays showing a route and individual stops. There is also voice information.
The automatic system of counting passengers is another novelty – it distinguishes boarding and leaving passengers and gives exact information about the number of passengers at separate stages of the routes.
Modern vehicles entered the streets three months after the contract for buying them had been concluded. It was signed on July 8, this year. The purchase of the buses was financed by ING Lease Polska. They cost PLN 118,272,509.60 gross.
Until now, 40 vehicles have been delivered to the capital city, among them the 1500th one – a low-floor bus in colors of Warsaw public transport operators.
By the end of the year, all 42 ordered Solaris Urbino 18 buses will have been delivered. Now there are over 20 such buses. This contract is worth PLN 56 million and it was the further part of the contract for purchase of 150 vehicles concluded in 2008.
The Warsaw inhabitants have seen many other novelties in the streets this year. In summer less crowded lines started to be served by 16 Solaris Urbino 10 buses. They cost PLN 15.166 billion. They are 10-meter long so called midibuses. There was a need to purchase buses adjusted to the number of passengers.
