Public transport during UEFA EURO 2012

On 8 June, the European Football Championship begins. One day earlier, a special public transport schedule in Warsaw shall come into force. A part of the changes shall be introduced for the period of the championship, which is from 7 June to 1 July. The other will be in force only during the match days – on 8, 12, 16, 21 and 28 June.*

Changes valid for the entire championship, 7 June – 1 July

Between 7 June – 1 July the metro, selected tram and bus lines shall be operating according to the changed schedules. The operating hours of the tram lines 7, 10, 16, 24 and 33 and of the bus line 101 shall be extended. The line 14 shall be connected with the tram line 74, which will be operating on the route SŁUŻEWIEC – BANACHA. A new tram line 76 shall be launched – connecting PL. NARUTOWICZA with ANNOPOL – and will be running in the evenings. There will be also two new bus lines operating: 275 – on the rout SASANKI – PL. TRZECH KRZYŻY and SHL, reaching the Chopin Airport. For the time of the championship special bus lines – marked with the letter “F” – shall be launched to serve the Fans Area and the line SH0, connecting the Wilson’s square with the FanCamp tent city, located at the Olympic Center. The bus loop of the night lines for the period of the championship shall be moved nearby the crossing of Al. Jerozolimskie, Al. Jana Pawła II and Chałubińskiego St.

The routes of the bus lines 519 and 520 will be changed on 28 May. An earlier change of those routes is caused by the closure of Marszałkowska street due to construction of the Fans Area.

Metro

From 7 June to 1 July, the metro will run until 2.00 am In the nights after matches, which are 8/9, 12/13, 16/17, 21/22 and 28/29 June as well as in the night of the final match 1/2 July, the metro will run all night. After the end of the match the metro will run every 5 minutes and from 24.00. every 15 minutes.

Special lines marked with the letter “F”

For the time of the European Football Championship there will be a Fan Zone located nearby the Palace of Culture and Science. Within the area the fans can watch matches and have fun. To serve the Zone, special lines marked with the letter “F” shall be launched, by means of which the fans can come back home. The lines operating hours shall be from 10.00 pm to 1.30 am, and on match days from 10.00 pm to 2.00 am The frequency of the bus runs shall depend on the demand. Night buses

The bus loop of the night bus lines, currently located at the commercial center CH Złote Tarasy and at Emilii Plater street, for the period of the championship shall be moved to the crossing area of Al. Jerozolimskie, Al. Jana Pawła II and Chałubińskiego St. The night buses until 2.00 am shall be operating with an increased frequency of every 15-20 minutes on average. At the same time, the routes shall be changed.

Changes on the match days – 8, 12, 16, 21 and 28 June

The changes in the communication system on the match days will be related first of all to the traffic exclusion of the streets nearby the National Stadium. They shall commence four hours before the matches and finish an hour after their end. The tram lines 7, 8, 9, 22, 24 and 25 and bus lines 102, 111, 117, 123, 127, 128, 131, 138, 146, 147, 158, 166, 171, 175, 210, 275, 422, 501, 507, 509, 517, 519, 520, 521 and 525 shall be operating on the diversion routes. With a view to the fans who come to the match by cars, there shall be bus lines marked with the letter “P” launched, arriving at the temporary car parks P+R. Additionally, special bus lines shall be launched – marked with the letters “SH” – which shall serve the car parks, that cannot be reached by the night buses. During the championship, and in particular on the match days, the railway traffic organization shall be changed.

The restoration of the basic traffic organization scheme and at the same time the return of the lines onto their basic routes shall depend on the traffic conditions.

Special lines marked with the letter “P”

The fans who come to Warsaw for the European Football Championship by cars, shall be able to leave their vehicles on the specially prepared car parks and change to the buses which will take them to the National Stadium and return to the car park after the match. Bus line launched for this purpose shall be operating on the match days. On 8 June, the buses shall run onto the routes from approx. 02.00 pm and shall be operating until the beginning of the match, that is until 06.00 pm. After the end of the match, approx. at 19.45 they shall be restarted. On the other match days, which are 12, 16, 21 and 28 June, the buses shall start operating approx. at 04.00 pm and shall be running until 08.45 pm, and then from 10.30 pm. The lines marked with the letter “P” shall be running with a frequency corresponding to the needs of the fans.

For the needs of the fans there are 11 car parks Park and Ride – 9 destined for cars and 2 destined for buses. The car parks are placed in the following locations:

Railway connections

During the European Football Championship, in particular on the match days, the rail traffic organization shall be changed. After the end of the matches on the Warsaw Stadium – Warsaw Chopin Airport section, additional trains shall be operating. On the other days, the trains operating hours shall be extended.

8 June

After the end of the match, from the railway stop Warszawa Stadion towards the airport, the SKM trains shall depart at 20.00., 20.06., 20.18., 20.30. Between the stations Warszawa Zachodnia and Warsaw Chopin Airport, the trains shall not stop on the transitional stops. Additionally, at 08.12 pm and 08.24 pm, the Mazovian Railways trains shall depart from the Warszawa Stadion stop to Warszawa Zachodnia.

Additional rail connections shall be operating in the night:

towards Otwock – departure from the Warszawa Śródmieście station at 1.30 am;
towards Pruszków – departure from the Warszawa Śródmieście station at 1.42 am;
