WHAT IS A VARSOVIAN CARD / YOUNG VARSOVIAN CARD?
A Varsovian Card or Young Varsovian Card (referred to as: the “Card”) is a carrier with an entitlement (e-hologram) to discounts in many places in Warsaw. The e-hologram can be placed on your Personalized Warsaw City Card (SWKM) or another carrier that is introduced or approved by ZTM.

WHO CAN APPLY FOR THE VARSOVIAN CARD?
The Varsovian Card is granted to persons who:
- are registered for permanent residence on the territory of the Capital City of Warsaw or
- live on the territory of the Capital City of Warsaw and settle personal income tax (PIT) at the tax office in Warsaw.
WHO CAN APPLY FOR THE YOUNG VARSOVIAN CARD?
Young Varsovian Card is granted to:
- children until 30 September of the calendar year when they turn 21, living on the territory of the Capital City of Warsaw, if at least one of their parents/legal guardians is registered for permanent residence in Warsaw or lives on the territory of Warsaw and settles his/her personal income tax at the tax office in Warsaw, regardless of whether he/she earns income.
- students until they turn 26, if:
- they are registered for permanent residence on the territory of the Capital City of Warsaw,
- they live on the territory of the Capital City of Warsaw and settle their personal income tax at the tax office in Warsaw, regardless of whether they earn income.
- they live on the territory of Warsaw, if at least one of their parents/legal guardians is registered for permanent residence in Warsaw or lives on the territory of the Capital City of Warsaw and settles his/her personal income tax at the tax office in Warsaw, regardless of whether he/she earns income.
- children aged 18 and upwards until 30 September of the calendar year when they turn 21, who do not have parents/legal guardians, if these persons are registered for permanent residence in Warsaw or live on the territory of the Capital City of Warsaw and settle personal income tax at the tax office in Warsaw.

HOW CAN I GET THE VARSOVIAN CARD / YOUNG VARSOVIAN CARD?
To get a Varsovian Card or Young Varsovian Card
- go to
- any Passenger Service Point (POP) of ZTM
- electronic Passenger Service Point (e-POP) in case of applying for the first card or new card (change of personal data),
- Residents’ Service Departments (WOM) for individual districts of Warsaw,,
- With proof of identity e.g. identity card, passport, residence card.
- With the appropriate application form filled in:
- for an individual;
- for a family;
- for a family with three children (only at Passenger Service Points of ZTM).
- Verification of the fulfilment of the conditions for obtaining the Card may be based on:
- address of permanent residence on the territory of the Capital City of Warsaw – the registration status will be verified in the system by ZTM/WOM employee based on the presented proof of identity or
- residence on the territory of the Capital City of Warsaw and settlement of personal income tax at the tax office in Warsaw. For this purpose one of the following documents must be presented:
- first page of a submitted PIT form for 2021 with residence address in Warsaw and a stamp of a tax office in Warsaw confirming the settlement of personal income tax on the territory of the Capital City of Warsaw;
- an official certificate of receipt (UPO) issued by the tax administration’s electronic mailbox, together with the first page of the electronically submitted tax return with the address of residence in Warsaw and the document number generated, which corresponds to the document identifier of the UPO, settled at the tax office on the territory of the Capital City of Warsaw;
- a certificate from the Warsaw tax office confirming the submission of a tax return on the amount of income earned (loss incurred) in 2021, together with the Warsaw address of residence.
For foreigners, it is necessary to present a document confirming the assignment of a NIP (Tax Id. No.) or PESEL (Personal Id. No.) number, if this number is not indicated in the identity document.
In the case of presenting the first page of PIT form with no residence address it is necessary to present a tax office certificate with a residence address in Warsaw.
Additionally a proof of family relationship (e.g. birth certificate of the child/children) must be presented when applying for the Young Varsovian Card for the first time.
For a parent/legal guardian with registered address in Warsaw it is possible (on request) to check the family relationship in the population register database.
To extend the validity of the Varsovian Card or Young Varsovian Card for subsequent period, i.e. until 31.12.2023, go to any:
- Ticket machine – this option is available for those who have an integrated e-hologram valid until 30 September 2022. Place the card in the slot of a ticket machine, choose “e-hologram” in the start menu and follow the instructions displayed by the ticket machine;
- Passenger Service Point (POP) of ZTM;
- Residents’ Service Department (WOM) for individual districts of Warsaw.
Important information: for families with three children:
Families with three children cannot extend the entitlement validity at ticket machines. They have to go to Passenger Service Points of ZTM.
WHAT IS A REDUCED VARSOVIAN TICKET AND WHO CAN USE IT?
Reduced Varsovian Ticket is valid for all holders of Varsovian Card who use a 50% discount on public transport, i.e.:
- pensioners up to 70 years of age (excluding Senior Citizen Ticket users),
- people with moderate disability past their 26th birthday,
- people entirely incapable of work, past their 26th birthday,
- people who are entitled under special laws (e.g. students or war veterans).

A one-year ticket for PLN 99 can be used by children from families with three children living in Warsaw, whose parents or legal guardians are registered for permanent residence in Warsaw or live and settle their personal income tax in the capital city. In this situation, family should be understood within the meaning of Art. 6 item 14 of the Act of 12 March 2004 on Social Assistance (Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1283, as amended), which indicates the a family is formed by related or unrelated people who are in actual relationship, live together and share the household. This means that the one-year ticket can be used also by children from so called patchwork families, i.e. families in which the current spouses or partners are also raising children from previous marriages or relationships. When applying to obtain the said Cards (with special design) you have to sign an appropriate declaration that you live together and run a joint household at the address indicated in the application.

- socialisation, intervention and specialist-therapeutic institutions,
the proof of family relationship is a certificate issued by the Warsaw Family Assistance Centre.
In the case of a legal guardian, proof of the family relationship is provided by presenting a copy of the court decision establishing legal guardianship for the child, and in the case of adoption – a copy of the court decision on adoption of the child.

PROFITS RELATED TO THE POSSESSION OF THE CARD; TOPPING UP THE CITY CARD
Holders of Varsovian Card/Young Varsovian Card can use cheaper long-term public transport tickets. Card holders can also benefit from discounts and privileges in numerous cultural, educational and recreational institutions listed here: www.karta.um.warszawa.pl.
People who pay taxes and are registered for permanent residence in the capital city pay less for personal long-term tickets.
A 30-day ticket for 1st and 2nd zone costs PLN 180 while with the Varsovian Card it costs PLN 98.
A 90-day ticket for 1st and 2nd zone costs PLN 460 while with the Varsovian Card it costs PLN 250.
A 30-day ticket for 1st and 2nd zone costs PLN 90 while with the Young Varsovian Card it costs PLN 49.
A 90-day ticket for 1st and 2nd zone costs PLN 230 while with the Young Varsovian Card it costs PLN 125.
The tickets are available at all ticket sales points of ZTM, including stationary and mobile ticket machines.
An exception is the ticket for children from families with three children. These tickets are available only at Passenger Service Points (POP) of ZTM.

REDUCED VARSOVIAN TICKET
The Reduced Varsovian Ticket is available to everyone who is currently entitled to a 50% discount on public transport, except those eligible for a Young Varsovian Ticket, meaning:

In order to activate the e-hologram, you must go to any ticket machine 3 working days after your appointment at the e-POP, insert your card into the machine and follow the instructions on the ticket machine screen.
